In 2016 Marissa McClain of the Boston Red Sox organization reached out to 34 artists around the nation to create a truly unique project. The "Thanks Papi" Project features 34 billboards throughout the Boston area, each designed by a different artist to celebrate soon to be Hall of Famer David "Big Papi" Ortiz.
It was an unbelievable honor to be approached to design something for such an outstanding athlete who has done so much for the city of Boston. Each billboard piece had to include Ortiz's number "34" in as a creative and original concept while showcasing the artists aesthetic. I choose Ortiz's iconic gold chain to be the main piece of imagery in addition to updating the Boston logo on the jersey to read "Big Papi". Its very humbling to do work alongside 33 other amazing artists, some who have helped shape who I am as a designer.
